Team Nigeria’s tennis squad has departed for the 2025 African Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Luanda, Angola, from 10 to 20th December, 2025.
The contingent, comprising four promising junior players and a coach, concluded their training camp in Abuja before joining other Team Nigeria athletes for the continental multi-sport event.
The players representing Nigeria include Goodnews Aina (Girl), Khadijat Mohammed (Girl), Oluwaseun Ogunsakin (Boy), and Ikenna Prosper Okonkwo (Boy), with Akinwumi Ogunsakin as their coach.
President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, expressed confidence in the athletes’ ability to secure podium finishes and serve as exemplary ambassadors for the nation.
Ochei implored the team to maintain professionalism, discipline, and Nigeria’s renowned winning mentality.
He also commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for providing essential logistics and welfare support to enhance the athletes’ performance.
Team Nigeria Tennis will compete against some of the continent’s most talented youth as they aim to bring glory to the nation in Luanda.
