The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards will focus on ‘Beyond Sustainability: Enabling Business Transformation Through Full Disclosure,’ even as the organisers have called for entry for the 18th edition of the highly successful awards, considered to be the biggest sustainability and corporate social responsibility recognition on the continent of Africa.

The 2024 edition aims to encourage businesses not to report merely for the sake of it but to utilise reporting to facilitate better decision-making and drive actual change.

Announce the theme and timeline for 2024 edition of the Award,, the executive director at TruCSR Consulting and Chairperson of the SERAS Local Organizing Committee, Mrs. Mary Ephraim Egbas stated that, “a global consensus has emerged regarding four significant shifts in global trends over the past two and a half decades. Initially, the focus was on encouraging organisations to embark on the sustainability journey.

The second shift involved urging them to document and report their progress.

“The third shift revolved around initiatives concerning recycling waste, renewable energy, and climate change. We are now on the brink of a new trend, one that seeks to enhance the depth of the second wave. This is what we shall be focusing on in 2024.”

The SERAS, which has featured participation from over 5,367 organisations from 27 African countries, will feature 25 awards categories, namely: Circular Economy, Poverty Reduction, Education Intervention, Stakeholder Engagement/Disclosure, Gender Equality/Women Empowerment, Climate Action, Environmental Stewardship, Promotion of Good Health/Wellbeing, Reporting & Transparency, Not-for-Profits of the Year, Social Enterprise of the Year, Water & Sanitation, Rural Population Integration, Partnership of the Year, Food Security, WorkPlace Practice, Financial Inclusion, Innovation, among others..

Entries were opened on May 6th and are expected to close on June 30th, 2024.
