The Yet To Be Revealed Truth Of Mazi Uc’s Passion For The Poorest Of The Poor

It was Michael Jordan a black American and one of the best all time Basketball players in the world who succinctly posited that “some people want it happen, some wish it would happen while some make it happen.” Fada Mazi Uc belongs to the third category as he has used his God giving talent, blessings, friends and amazing grace to impart the lives of people around him very positively. 

 Fr. Henry Igbokwe popularly known as Mazi Uc is a priest of the Holy Roman Catholic Church ordained on 29th of June, 2022 and hails from Umuezegwu Community in the present day Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State. He had a humble beginning as he was never born with silver spoon in his mouth rather he rose from the cradle, having attended Community Primary School Umuezegwu where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). After his Primary Education, he was admitted at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary Ihitte formerly known as St. Peter’s Seminary Ihitte and subsequently completed at St. Peter’s Seminary Okigwe.  

In 2015 Mazi Uc moved abroad where he eventually and successfully completed the rigorous journey to the Catholic Priesthood and was ordained a priest for a Diocese in Austria. He obstained Masters in Catholic Theology from the prestigious University of Vienna in 2020. 

Fada Mazi Uc carved a niche for himself through hardwork and commitment. Phenomenally, one of the most significant things about Fada Mazi Uc is the fact that he commenced his humanitarian and philanthropic gestures at a very young age. He doesn’t view life from the perspective of a good number of other Nigerians who will always want to lay a solid foundation for themselves personally and their families before delving into the affairs of the general public rather he choose to bring a paradigm shift as it concerns humanitarianism.  

Thus, it is noteworthy to mention that at less than 35 years of age, Fada Mazi Uc has already established two viable and functional  Non-Governmental 

Organizations (NGOs) namely: Heart of the Poor Foundation and Herz Fur Die Armen. His Charity organizations are designed to provide free education to students from poorest backgrounds, financial and material assistance to widows and down trodden in the society among other things.  

Expediently, for Fada Mazi Uc, life is all about using your potentials to make things much easier and life more meaningful for people in your community, Local Government Area, State, Country and the world at large. This mindset has propelled him to prioritize philanthropy and humanitarianism of which he started immediately after his ordination as a Catholic Priest – he hold the belief that the message of faith is to spread the warmth of love everywhere.

Notably, as at the last count, Fada Mazi UC has about eighty (80) beneficiaries under his Education Scholarship Scheme which runs from Creche to Secondary School. In addition to this, this young priest has about fifty (50) widows in his Foundation who are  being supported with both financial and material assistance on regular basis. 

As a firm Education enthusiast, Mazi Uc believes that Education remains the key to unlock the chains of ignorance and poverty. In the light of his belief, he has taken it as a responsibility and a goal that every child in his community will access basic education. Added to the number of beneficiaries under his Free Education scheme,  Mazi Uc is already making concerted efforts to expand the scope of the free education in order to accommodate more beneficiaries going forward as he has already put modalities in place to achieve the result.  

In an exclusive interaction with him, Fr. Mazi UC revealed that he sees his humanitarian deeds as a way of giving back to his people and community that nurtured him and laid the foundation that made him whom he is today, adding that  at every point in time, he accords all glory to God Almighty and remains ever so grateful to his friends both home and in the diaspora who have continued to support him in different ways both in his priestly ministry and the charity works he does for humanity. 

Remarkably, it will interest every right thinking fellow to know that Fr. Mazi Uc is a not only super talented but equally  a versatile personality as he is a chorister, song writer, gospel singer, language expert, humanitarian, philanthropist and so on. In this regard, Mazi Uc has produced a number of songs among which are the two he recently released titled: N’ OBODO and ABIAKWALAM. In the aspect of Language, he speaks a number of foreign languages, he is fluent in Igbo, German, English, and has a gentleman’s knowledge of French, Spanish and Italian.  

This young priest has demonstrated unparalleled passion, commitment and consistency in charity as he believes that the life of a priest is a life of charity and dedication. The proceeds from his music career are channelled to his philanthropic gestures to humanity of which has continued to distinguish him as one who has completely changed the narratives in the areas of humanitarianism and charity works in the society today.  

Undoubtedly, Mazi Uc on daily basis continues to think deeply and evolve ways of making life much better for people. Going by the actions and inactions of Fada Mazi Uc, he has proven beyond measures that the joy, happiness, satisfaction and progress of people around him and anyone that comes in contact with him, remain the  topmost agenda in his list. 

Indeed, as a man of principles and unshakable character, going by the achievements recorded, so far, one can safely say that Mazi Uc has distinguished himself in the work of God, services rendered to humanity, song writing, gospel singing, humanitarian acts and philanthropic gestures that have  brought a new dimension to the perspectives and world view as it concerns how to contribute towards society building at the individual level.  

 Mazi Uc needs encouragement, support and above all prayers for God Almighty to continue to grant him the amazing grace and bountiful blessings that will make him to remain a vessel used to keep touching lives positively especially at this present time of harsh economic realities in Nigeria.
