Erratic power supply in this country is no longer funny. I mean, after all these years and you still hear people screaming for joy when power taken returns. Initially you would hear ‘Up NEPA!’ Echoing through houses. Now it’s more like a ‘Yay!’ Of happiness. I’m guessing the power generators have relieved a lot of people. But what exactly is happening to power?

Why doesn’t anyone have any straight answer apart from the dams are drying up,’ or ‘We are not able to generate more than 2500 watts because…’ they usually lose me at that point and everything else after that word ‘because’ becomes humdrum. Haba, for so many years fa?

Power should be regular and not something given to us as a luxury. I remember having this discussion with Altine. She could not understand why I was so angry when we had a generator in our house that can serve a mini estate.
