President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Emomotimi Agama as director-general of the board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Mairiga Aliyu as chairman of the board.
A statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale said, “Frana Chukwuogor is executive commissioner (Legal and Enforcement).
“Bola Ajomale – executive commissioner (Operations), Samiya Hassan Usman – executive commissioner (Corporate Services), Lekan Belo – non-executive commissioner and Kasimu Garba Kurfi – non-executive commissioner.
“The president anticipates that all members of the board of this critical commission will bring to bear their wealth of experience and competence in advancing the commission’s core mandate of developing and regulating a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient, to bolster investor confidence and contribute immeasurably to the nation’s economic development.”
The president also approved the appointment of Ms Halima Kyari as chairperson of the board of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Others are, “Olusegun Ayo Omosehin – commissioner for Insurance. Olawoye Gam-Ikon – deputy commissioner (Technical Operations).
“Usman Ankara Jimada – deputy commissioner (Finance and Administration).
Miriam Kene Kachikwu, Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun and Umar Khalifa Mohammed were also appointed members of the board.
Ngelale said the President expects the new board of the National Insurance Commission to exercise utmost probity for a safe, sound and stable insurance sector as well as the protection of policyholders, public interest and improving trust and confidence in the sector.
