President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Head of Service of Yobe State, Alhaji Garba Bilal, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI), Ogun State.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated February 9, 2026, from the Federal Ministry of Education and signed by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa.
According to the letter, the appointment takes effect from June 13, 2024.
Bilal, a seasoned administrator, previously served as the Head of Service of Yobe State, where he played a key role in coordinating the state’s civil service and implementing administrative reforms.
He also served as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, prior to this appointment.
His reappointment places him at the helm of the institution’s governing council, where he is expected to oversee policy direction and provide strategic guidance for the continued development of the university.
