President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned a series of tertiary education infrastructure projects across four institutions in different parts of the country as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.

According to a statement by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the projects were delivered by the Federal Ministry of Education under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) intervention programme and span institutions in the North-Central, North-West and North-East regions.

At the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga, the President inaugurated a newly constructed School of Science Complex, a two-storey facility designed to strengthen science teacher training through modern learning and administrative spaces, including e-libraries and staff offices.

At the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Afaka Campus, Kaduna State, Tinubu commissioned a remodelled Senate Building and a Biodiversity and Conservation Centre. The Senate Building features modern conferencing facilities, executive offices, security systems, fire suppression units and solar power backup.

At the Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, Jigawa State, the President inaugurated a new classrooms complex under the 2024 TETFund Special High Impact Intervention, aimed at easing infrastructure pressure and improving the learning environment for students and staff.

Similarly, at Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau Campus, Bauchi State, Tinubu commissioned a newly completed students’ hostel built under the 2024 TETFund Annual Intervention at a cost of N738.9 million, designed to improve student welfare and accommodation capacity.

Speaking during the commissioning, the President said investment in tertiary education infrastructure remains central to national development and skills acquisition.

“When you build a classroom, you build a generation,” Tinubu said, stressing that sustained investment in colleges, polytechnics and universities would determine the quality of future Nigerian graduates.

He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening military and technical institutions, noting that the Armed Forces require world-class training facilities to enhance professionalism and capacity.

“Our polytechnics are the engine room of Nigeria’s technical workforce,” he said, adding that practical skills development remains essential to economic growth.

Tinubu commended the Ministry of Education, TETFund and institutional authorities for the timely delivery of the projects, urging proper maintenance and effective use of the facilities.

The commissioning exercise forms part of the federal government’s broader education infrastructure drive under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
