The Director General, City Boy Movement, Mr Oluwatosin Francis Shoga has said that President Bola Tinubu did not only become President to manage Nigeria, but also to transform the country in a sustainable way.
Shoga, who gave the affirmation at the Imo state youth stakeholders’ security summit held in Owerri on Friday, added that ‘The Renewed Hope’ agenda of Tinubu will intensify efforts to secure Nigeria.
“No amount of threat or personal interest will jeopardize the safety of Nigeria, including its human and material resources,” he said.
Speaking further, Shoga noted that while the security of Nigeria is not negotiable, the safety of Imo State and Nigeria is paramount as it is one of the pillars upon which President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda is hinged.
He, however, explained that an effective way to address insecurity in Nigeria is through meaningful and sustainable youth empowerment.
According to him, “When young people have skills, access to finance and requisites knowledge to operate a business of their own. There will be opportunities. They become builders, not destroyers. More importantly, they won’t be lured to social vices of any kind.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, government alone can not win this battle. We need our traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, market associations, and women organizations to raise peace awareness.”
” In this battle against insecurity, retreat is not an option. The surrender is not on the table. The path to peace may be challenging, but with unity of purpose, with determination in our hearts, and with faith in the Renewed Hope agenda, we shall overcome,” affirmed Shoga.
The Imo State commissioner for youth and talent hunt, Mandella Ukaegbu noted that the stakeholders summit on security is an initiative of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as one of his agenda is to ensure that there is absolute safety in the state.
The commissioner further noted that the governor has put up several initiatives to ensure the youth in Imo state participate in issues that have to do with the state, especially in the area of security.
