The president announced that the rehabilitation of Lagos-Ibadan and Sagamu expressway would help 17 southern states in the country and respond to infrastructure needs of adjourning states.

Tinubu who was represented by Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun reiterated his administration’s vision to link rural roads to urban centres, commercial hubs and industrial corridors.

He said this perfectly aligns with his Renewed Hope Agenda to rebuild, rehabilitate and expand national road networks, railways and other national assets and infrastructure that are important to the country.

The president while harping on the agenda responded that the Lagos-Ibadan expressway which primarily serves as commercial connectivity to the eastern part was crucial for the nation’s prosperity and a gateway to Nigeria’s hinterland and consolidated Ogun State’s historic reputation as the gateway to the nation’s prosperity.

He pointed out that the expressway was prone to frequent accidents, congestion, disrepair and road mishaps which had severely impacted on the ease of doing business and safety of road users while adding that the road project which started in 2013 was a direct response to these challenges.

Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi, applauded the president’s effort to actualise the rehabilitation of the roads in the country.

He stated that opposition groups in the country were proud of the various road projects in the country, adding that the president had built concrete and stable roads over the country.

He further said there would be no payment to any contractors without a valid operating license.

Federal Comptroller of Works Lagos State, Engr Olukorede Kesha commended Tinubu for the rehabilitation of roads across the country and his bold efforts to infrastructure.
