President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to distribute rice across all states of the federation in support of citizens observing the ongoing Ramadan and Lenten seasons.

The initiative, according to the organisers, is aimed at strengthening national unity and demonstrating compassion during a period of deep spiritual reflection for both Muslims and Christians.

Under the directive, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will coordinate the distribution through their nationwide grassroots network to ensure that families across the country benefit from the intervention during the fasting period.

The programme is expected to be implemented through the organisation’s structures at the state, local government and ward levels to ensure that the support reaches communities across Nigeria.

The intervention follows a similar effort during the Christmas season when rice was distributed to support Nigerians celebrating the festive period, a move seen as part of efforts to assist citizens during significant religious and cultural observances.

Both Muslim and Christian communities are expected to benefit from the current distribution, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on inclusivity and shared national values.

Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hope Uzodimma, said the programme reflects the President’s belief in supporting citizens during the fasting season while strengthening interfaith harmony.

According to Uzodimma, Ramadan and Lent represent periods that emphasise sacrifice, charity and compassion, adding that the distribution is intended to ensure that families across the country feel the spirit of togetherness during the sacred period.

He said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would work through their nationwide structures to ensure broad reach and transparency in the distribution process.

Uzodimma noted that the initiative underscores the importance of unity and care for one another during periods of spiritual reflection observed by both faith communities.
