In a letter addressed to the Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, and read during plenary on Wednesday, the President urged the House to expedite consideration and passage of the bill.
He said the repeal and re-enactment of the Act are necessary to strengthen the management and administration of the fund, support the training and enhancement of police personnel, and provide modern security equipment, among other objectives.
“I am pleased to transmit to the House of Representatives, for consideration and passage into law, the attached bill proposing the repeal and re-enactment of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (Establishment) Act, 2025.

“The House of Representatives may wish to note that the proposed repeal and re-enactment of the Act establishing the Nigeria Police Trust Fund will significantly enhance the operational capacity, accountability, and sustainability of the NPTF in line with the current security imperatives of the nation.
