Minister of state for defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, has reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to end the current security challenges facing the country.

In a chat with journalists at his country home, Maradun, Zamfara State, Matawalle, said the approach of President Tinubu in the fight against insecurity was a clear indication and demonstration of seriousness to overcome the challenge.

He said soon after the inauguration, Tinubu charged security agencies to work hard and save the country from the menace.

“Remember, President Tinubu appointed service chiefs, New IGP and experienced and competent National Security Adviser, NSA, all geared towards fighting criminals.”

Matawalle further revealed he visited Turkey to assess military equipment as well as aircrafts purchased by the federal government to fight bandits in the North West and Boko Haram elements in the North East.

The minister said in the same mission, the senior minister, Abubakar Badaru also visited China.

He expressed optimism that within the shortest possible time the issue of banditry and Boko Haram would be history.

Matawalle said the presidency has provided all required logistics and funds for the Ministry of Defence to end criminal activities in the name of banditry or Boko Haram.

He said soon top officials of the Ministry of Defence would embark on a tour of military theatres in the North East and North West to assess their performance.
