Trabzonspor Rule Out Permanent Deal For Man United Outcast Onana

Trabzonspor vice president Zeyyat Kafkas has confirmed that Manchester United are demanding a substantial fee for goalkeeper Andre Onana, a price tag the Turkish club has no intention of meeting.

Onana is currently spending the 2024/25 season on loan at the Super Lig side after a difficult campaign at Old Trafford. The Cameroonian shot-stopper, who arrived in 2023 for a reported €50 million, found himself out of favor following a series of high-profile errors that undermined his position as United’s number one.

Speaking on the club’s official channels, Kafkas revealed that while United is open to selling the player, their valuation—reportedly in the region of what they originally paid—makes a permanent switch to Trabzonspor financially unviable.

“The price offered by Manchester United for AndrĂ© Onana’s purchase was in the €45-50 million range, and our President sincerely informed the club about the realities of Trabzonspor,” Kafkas explained.

Kafkas was keen to clarify that this financial reality check did not dampen the player’s spirits, noting that Onana’s focus remains on his future in European football.

“I don’t think this information affected Onana at all. Because Onana’s intention is to continue playing for a club in Europe if not in England. His family also thinks that way,” he added.

While ruling out a permanent deal under the current circumstances, the vice president left the door slightly ajar for future negotiations, stating, “However, if the circumstances change, the situation will change.”
