The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG)  has described the ongoing trial of 500 suspected terrorists  as a welcome development.

The group stated this in a  statement  signed by its national coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi and secretary, Dr Nasir Balogun.

It commended President Bola  Tinubu for fulfilling his promise of dealing severely according to the law with  insurgents, terrorists, bandits and kidnappers who have been killing and terrorising innocent citizens.

It  also praised the attorney-general and minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN)  for personally leading the prosecution of the criminals.

The MMWG stated that the current judicial process would  vindicate the federal government that it has never ‘rested on its oars’ in dealing  with the criminals,  sustaining and promoting insecurity in the country.

While commending the federal government for its effort in stamping out criminalities in the country, the group called  on all security and intelligence agencies  to rise up to the challenges by stopping further attacks anywhere in the country.

It called on all the northern state governors  to come up with holistic strategies capable of putting an  end to insurgency in the country, warning that “throwing money  to insecurity cannot curb it; rather social and educational programmes that transform the lives of the youth is the best approach to stop the menace of insecurity.”
