Troops Foils Armed Robbery Attack Along Abuja–Kaduna Highway

Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully foiled an armed robbery attack along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway, thereby preventing harm to commuters.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, when troops on routine patrol received a distress call regarding an ongoing armed robbery attack at Nasarawan Doka.

A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations,
1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said upon receipt of the information, the troops immediately mobilised to the location and engaged the criminals, effectively neutralising the threat.

During the encounter, one of the arrested suspects, Kabiru Zayyanu, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, was promptly evacuated to Doka General Hospital in Kaduna Statem where he received first aid. Other members of the criminal gang fled the scene.

Troops conducted a hot pursuit, however, no further contact was made. Additionally, no casualty or abduction was recorded during the operation.

“The arrested suspect will be handed over to the relevant security agency upon completion of the investigation.

“The general security situation in the area remains calm, while troops continue to maintain a strong presence, dominate the area, and ensure a secure d environment,” he stated.

The Nigerian Army reassured the general public of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
