In a significant breakthrough, troops in Kebbi State have eliminated no fewer than 80 bandits attempting to infiltrate the state from Zamfara State. The military operation, which took place in Ngaski local government area, was made possible by strategic deployment of troops and credible intelligence reports.
According to Abdulllahi Idris Zuru, Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, the success of the operation is a direct result of Governor Nasir Idris’ efforts to enhance security in the state.
“The governor’s directive to deploy fully equipped troops at the state borders with Sokoto, Zamfara, and Niger states has yielded positive results,” Zuru said in a statement.
The troops, backed by intelligence reports, launched a successful attack on heavily armed bandits attempting to cross over from Niger State, killing an estimated 80. The director of Security, Abdulrahman Usman, confirmed the operation, saying motorcycles belonging to the bandits and two abducted individuals were also recovered.
The Kebbi State Government has been working closely with security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, to tackle security challenges in the state. Governor Idris has provided support, including 100 Hilux vehicles and 5,000 motorcycles, to enhance the capacity of the troops.
The emir of Yauri, Dr. Zayyanu Muhammad, has commended the efforts of the troops and expressed gratitude to Governor Idris for his military support. “We appreciate the efforts of the troops and the governor’s commitment to protecting lives and properties,” he said.
