Troops Raid IPOB Camps, Arrest 9 In Anambra

Troops of 82 Division in conjunction with a Vigilante Group, on Sunday, raided and destroyed camps of outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/ Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Oroma and Umuewelum Anam of Anambra West local government area of Anambra State and arrested nine fighters.

The director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, said the Troops of 302 Regiment operating under 82 Division of the Nigerian Army with support of the vigilantes raided the identified camps on July 23, 2023, in an effort to curb the illicit activities of the fighters in the communities.

He said the troops arrested eight brigands during the raid operation and recovered one AK47 Rifle, one AKMS Rifle, three Lexus SUVs and two motorcycles.

In a separate operation, troops also raided IPOB camp at Mmiata Anam in Anambra South, killing one and capturing one in the firefight that ensued.

The troops also recovered one AK47 rifle, one dane gun and police uniforms.
