U.S. Singer Sabrina Carpenter Seeks Restraining Order Against Stranger

American pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has approached a court to seek a temporary restraining order against a 31-year-old man who allegedly tried to break into her home and refused to leave her property.

According to court documents obtainted TMZ on Monday, June 1, 2026 the singer’s legal team filed the urgent petition on Friday against the suspect, identified as William Applegate. A judge has since granted the temporary protective order.

Carpenter stated in the filing that Applegate, who is a complete stranger to her, showed up uninvited at her Los Angeles home on May 23. She noted that his approach was deliberate, calculated, and aggressive, causing her deep alarm.

The legal document included photos taken from the singer’s Ring doorbell camera, which captured the suspect at her front door.

According to her statement, Applegate attempted to force the front door open before ringing the doorbell. When confronted by her private security team, the suspect falsely claimed to know the musician and refused to cooperate until police officers arrived and arrested him.

Shockingly, Carpenter revealed that less than 24 hours after his initial arrest, the suspect returned to her residence on May 24, leaving only after security officials ordered him to depart.

He reportedly surfaced at the property again on May 25, which forced her team to call the police for a second time.

In her sworn declaration, Carpenter wrote: “William Applegate is a complete stranger to me. I have never met him or communicated with him in any way. I have no desire to meet him or communicate with him.”

The temporary restraining order legally commands Applegate to stay away from the singer, her sister Sarah, and her sister’s boyfriend, George. A formal court hearing has been scheduled for later this month to determine whether the order will be made permanent.
