The Alema of Warri, Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, has distanced himself from a report allegedly published by Daily Post, denying comments attributed to him in a story suggesting that Nigeria’s First Lady should “focus more on kitchen duties.”

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abigborodo community, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Uduaghan accused the newspaper of misrepresenting him and publishing information he said was falsely attributed to him.

He said he holds the first lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in high regard and would not make statements capable of diminishing her role.

“I have so much respect for the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. I also know her importance in the country,” he said.

The Warri High Chief emphasised the importance of accurate attribution and responsible journalism.

“Journalism is the practice of the art of the specific. I have no connection with that video and news story,” he stated.

Uduaghan also said he would pursue legal action over what he described as false attribution.

He called on the management of Daily Post to either remove the report or update it with what he described as the proper attribution.
