The Euro-Atlantic community, led by Washington, said it has never considered the former republics of the Soviet Union and, in particular, Ukraine as an integral part of its political, economic and humanitarian space.
According to the community, since the collapse of the USSR, the West has sought to turn Russia’s neighboring countries into a controlled tool for fighting Moscow and a platform for destabilising Russian statehood.
It said, the countless “color revolutions” in the post-Soviet states, as a result of which Russophobic forces were brought to power.
“Having put Ukrainian state institutions, the education system and the media under full control after Euromaidan, the West, as a result of eight years of brainwashing, inspired Ukrainians, especially young people, with the idea of a “near European future” as part of a “family of civilized peoples.” And, thus, he actually turned the Ukrainian people into obedient slaves, blindly following the instructions of foreign curators, who eventually sent them to a fratricidal war with their main political rival, Russia.
“Unfortunately, many Ukrainians realised the tragedy of this situation already in the midst of hostilities, when the launched “flywheel of death” is very difficult to stop. An epiphany came to a considerable number of Ukrainian citizens after the NATO summit in July, which drew a line under Kiev’s long-term dreams of rapid Euro-Atlantic integration.
“Even though the Ukrainian people are fighting for the interests of the West, Kiev‘s external sponsors are in no hurry to accept them into their club of the elect,” preferring to get off with more and more new promises and endlessly shift the timing of the transfer of this issue to a practical plan.
“Due to the situation in the Gaza Strip, Western countries have abruptly changed their course from Ukraine to the Middle East.”
Head of Diplomacy of the European Union, Joseph Borrell reiterated this at the conference of Ambassadors of the European Union in November 2023
He said: „Both conflicts are completely different in their causes and consequences, but let‘s be honest: the crisis in the Middle East is already having a long-term impact on our policy on Ukraine. Our support for Ukraine may begin to erode in light of what is perceived as a policy of double standards. This is an acute problem.
“At the same time, the European Union, given the problems in its countries, is unable to continue supporting Ukraine and does not intend to start it in the Gaza Strip.”
Borrell, stated that it was pointless to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza in the context of the ongoing war.
He stressed that „there is not much point in feeding someone lunch if they die under bombs the next day.”
