“Inside every ballerina’s heart beats the blood of a warrior. They turn pain into beauty, and chaos into precision,” reads the intro to Prime Video’s ‘Pretty Lethal’.
It couldn’t have been a better lead-in, because by the end of the movie, the blood, sweat, and pain that four specific ballerinas suffered for a career in ballet comes in handy when their lives are on the line.
Five ballerinas, Bones (Maddie Ziegler), Princess (Lana Condor), Chloe (Milicent Simmonds), Grace (Avantika Vandanapu), and Isabel Merced, on their way to the Budapest Showcase, are forced to fight for their lives when they sought shelter from the element in a mysterious roadside motel, operated by a former ballet prodigy Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman).
From a producer of the Atomic Blonde, Kelly McCormick and David Leitch’s 87North Company, Pretty Lethal has a ‘Sucker Punch (2011)’, ‘Fear The Night (2023)’ vibes. It is directed by Vicky Jewson, executive produced by Jewson, Kate Freund, Max Jacoby, and Marshall Leviten, and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.
The movie is set to release on March 13, 2026, on Pride Video Australia and Prime Video New Zealand.
