Former Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has appealed to Monaco supporters to exercise patience regarding Paul Pogba’s return to form.
Pogba’s much-anticipated comeback has been hampered by injury, with his last appearance for the club being in early December. The midfielder has not played competitive football for over two years, having faced a prolonged period out due to injury and a doping ban.
Speaking to RMC, Umtiti expressed optimism about Pogba’s eventual return to the team. “I spoke with him and I know he’s working incredibly hard,” Umtiti stated. “It’s normal for his body to react like this. But he’s not giving up, and I think he’ll be able to come back and play a few matches.”
Umtiti acknowledged the challenges facing Pogba, adding, “When I saw him return, I thought, wow, this is going to be tough. His body needs to get back into shape, but we shouldn’t expect him to play 20 matches in a row. If he still believes he can do it, we should let him go all the way, it’s that simple.”
