As Liberia’s first female Vice President and a prominent political figure, she made history as a champion for women’s empowerment and leadership, both in Liberia and across Africa.

During her tenure, Howard-Taylor worked tirelessly to advance women’s rights and gender equality.

She was a vocal advocate for policies aimed at increasing female representation in government and leadership roles, actively supporting grassroots initiatives that provided education, vocational training, and economic opportunities for women.

Her efforts laid the groundwork for greater inclusion of women in national decision-making processes.

In addition to her gender advocacy, Howard-Taylor was a staunch supporter of youth development.

Recognizing the potential of Liberia’s youth, she launched initiatives to promote education, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement, encouraging young people to take an active role in their communities and the country’s future.

Her efforts have had a lasting impact on the next generation of Liberian leaders.

Improving healthcare access, particularly for maternal and child health, was another priority for Howard-Taylor.

She championed programs aimed at enhancing healthcare services in rural areas, ensuring that the country’s most vulnerable populations had access to essential support.

Her advocacy raised awareness of critical health issues and helped improve healthcare standards across Liberia.

Beyond her official duties, Jewel Howard-Taylor is well-known for her philanthropic work, particularly in education and community development.

Her unwavering commitment to service, coupled with her advocacy for women’s rights, youth empowerment, and healthcare, has left an indelible mark on Liberia, inspiring a new generation of leaders to drive positive change.

As the newly inaugurated African Patron of the United Nations International Peace & Governance Council, Howard-Taylor’s influence continues to expand, reinforcing her role as a symbol of hope, progress, and leadership in Liberia and across the African continent.
