Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its readiness for the next phase of growth, citing enhanced systems, service improvements, and stronger stakeholder engagement as part of its renewed strategic direction.

This assurance came during an informal media mixer hosted by the bank at SpaceNXT, its innovation and co-creation hub located in Lagos. The event, designed to strengthen relationships and foster open dialogue between the bank and the media community, was meant to deepen human connections and reinforce its appreciation of the media’s critical role in shaping public discourse and amplifying its corporate mission, according to the bank

Speaking at the event, the chief brand and marketing officer of Union Bank, Olufunmilola Aluko, noted that the initiative was part of the bank’s commitment to building meaningful partnerships grounded in transparency and authenticity.

“This event is simply about people. Union Bank has been around for 108 years, and we’ve seen it all, from telegram banking to digital wallets; from handwritten ledgers to AI-driven analytics. But through all that change, one constant has remained: the media,” she said.

Aluko explained that the session was conceived as a reminder that beyond headlines and deadlines are shared human experiences and a joint commitment to truth, storytelling, and impact. “We wanted to create a space that is unhurried and human, where we can meet without the weight of press statements or corporate formality,” she added.

Also speaking, the bank’s Head of Strategy and Planning, Mr. Tosin Ibikunle, highlighted the institution’s operational strength and forward-looking posture, noting that Union Bank has continued to invest in technology and customer experience in anticipation of its next growth trajectory.

“Union Bank has diligently enhanced its systems and service experience in preparation for the next phase of growth. As we roll out new initiatives, we look forward to partnering with the media to tell our story with clarity, accuracy, and impact,” Ibikunle stated.

Senior executives in attendance included Taiwo Shote, executive director, Corporate Banking (Lagos and West), alongside other members of the leadership team. The evening featured a guided tour of Stallion Plaza and networking sessions, reflecting the bank’s intention to build warm, enduring connections beyond conventional corporate engagements.
