Unknown Assailants Kill Family Of 6, Others In Benue IDP Camp

Unknown armed men, on Thursday night, attacked the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Abagena, a suburb of Makurdi metropolis in Benue State, killing a man, his wife, their four children and others.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Catherine Anene, who confirmed the attack, said she was yet to receive details of the casualties.

Our correspondent gathered that those killed in the attack were mostly women and children.

A source, who do not want his name in print, told our correspondent that so far eight corpses have been recovered with many others injured aftermath of the attack.

According to him, “We are still combing the bushes for the missing persons but so far, eight corpses have been recovered and eight others who are seriously injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
