A group operating under the banner of the Kogi East APC Elites Forum has appealed to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to uphold fairness, transparency, and justice in its affairs, while urging party members across Kogi East to remain calm, united, and committed to the party.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja yesterday,  Lead Spokesperson of the Kogi East APC Elites Forum Dr. Ben Ogwuche, said party members in Kogi State should be allowed to resolve issues relating to the APC senatorial candidacy through established democratic channels.

The forum maintained that internal democracy remains vital to the success and unity of the APC, stressing that decisions reached through established party processes should be respected.

“Our purpose is simple and clear: to reaffirm our collective support for Chief Joe Erico, whom we recognise as the candidate who emerged through the accepted democratic process,” the group stated.

He noted that the forum’s position was informed by its commitment to democratic principles and the need to preserve unity within the party.

The group expressed support for Chief Joe Erico, describing him as the preferred choice of many stakeholders in Kogi East Senatorial District.

The forum also said it had received concerns over alleged attempts by individuals outside Kogi East to influence political decisions within the district and urged all interested parties to respect the views of local APC members.

In a statement read during the briefing, the group said: “Kogi East possesses capable leaders, experienced party elders, and a vibrant grassroots structure fully capable of determining its political future.”

It added: “The final determination of who represents Kogi East should reflect the wishes of APC members and stakeholders within the district.”

The forum reiterated its commitment to the unity and progress of the APC, calling on party leaders at all levels to ensure that fairness, transparency, and justice guide all decisions affecting the party and its members.

The group further urged members and supporters of the party to remain peaceful and focused on strengthening the APC ahead of future political engagements, emphasizing that unity and adherence to due process remain essential to the party’s continued success.
