Consul General of the United States to Nigeria, Hon. Will Stevens, has given an insight into the recent diplomatic overtures by the American Secretary of State, Tony Blinken, to Nigeria.
During his meeting with Governor Umo Eno in Uyo over the weekend, Stevens said the United States was committed to renewing America’s strategic interest in enhancing socio-economic relationship with Africa, noting that the continent has the potential of defining the future of the world.
Wills said his mission to Akwa Ibom was to consolidate by wooing other subnational governments with major development imprints, to key in.
He lauded Governor Eno on the development strides currently on in the state and congratulated him for emerging victorious at the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial poll which he described as free, fair and credible.
The consul general described Akwa Ibom people as inherently happy, and reiterated the call for a robust partnership earlier made by the US chief scribe during his visit to Nigeria last week, assuring that the United States is committed to the economic growth and prosperity of Nigeria and her sub-nationals.
Welcoming the consul general, Governor Eno thanked him for choosing to visit the state and spoke of his government’s readiness to collaborate further with American investors in the areas of oil and gas, blue economy, agriculture and tourism.
He Eno conducted the consul general on an inspection to the Model Primary School at the Christ the King School which is due for commissioning at the end of this month, and the American diplomat commended him for his vision in education as well as other developmental strides he has recorded since inauguration eight months ago.
