In fulfillment of its humanitarian mandate, the Chief Victor Uwajeh Foundation (CVUF) has secured the release of eight inmates from the Nigerian Correctional facility, Ogwashi-Uku Custodial Centre, Delta State, following the payment of bail conditions.
The gesture, earlier announced by the Foundation, marked a significant step in its commitment to rehabilitation, community welfare, and social reintegration.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, signed by Chief Alex Odi-Okoh, he thanked the management of the organisation for the bold and compassionate initiative.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, Kingsley Emereibeole, said it was no small feat for an individual to utilise personal resources through a foundation to restore the freedom of inmates.
Emereibeole advised the released individuals to embrace correction, become responsible citizens, and positively impact their communities.
Emereibeole further emphasised the importance of community support and collaboration with the Foundation to ensure their successful reintegration and reunion with their families.
The humanitarian intervention was carried out on behalf of Chief Victor Osita Uwajeh, the Olikeze of Onicha-Ugbo Kingdom, who described the act as a fulfillment of a personal promise and part of his December humanitarian initiatives to his community and constituency in Nigeria.
The Iyase of Agba in Onicha-Ugbo Kingdom, Chief Alex Odi-Okoh, who led the organisation on the visit to the Correctional Centre, said the Foundation’s humanitarian initiatives are centered on rehabilitation, welfare development, and youth empowerment, with a strong focus on security and social stability within the community.
Chief Alex Odi-Okoh said Chief Victor Osita Uwajeh, the Olikeze of Onicha-Ugbo Kingdom, has consistently demonstrated deep passion for community security and welfare.
According to him, the release of the eight inmates was deliberately chosen as the starting point of the Foundation’s festive outreach before rolling out broader community welfare and youth empowerment programs.
Addressing the freed inmates, Chief Alex Odi-Okoh advised them to shun violence, embrace positive values, and focus on rebuilding their lives.
The event stands as a powerful demonstration of the Chief Victor Uwajeh Foundation’s dedication to humanitarian service, restorative justice, and sustainable community development.
