Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has expressed deep sadness at the sudden death of Mr Dotun Oladipo, the publisher of The Eagle Online and former president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), describing his passing as shocking and unexpected.
Oladipo passed on Tuesday at a hospital where he was said to have personally driven himself to when he took ill at his office.
In a statement by his chief press secretary/special adviser on Media, Oguwike Nwachuku, Uzodimma said that Oladipo’s death had left a big vacuum in the two elite media bodies where he was a leading light- The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).
The governor said the reactions and responses from Oladipo’s colleagues since the news of his death broke, were a testament of his commitment to the ideals of responsible media practice and service to the society, stressing that the deceased would be sorely missed as a humble, innovative, diligent, energetic and detribalised journalist.
He prayed for God’s grace upon Oladipo’s family, colleagues, friends, associates and well-wishers to bear the huge loss.
