Varsity Alumni Set For 18th Annual General Assembly In Zaria

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Alumni Association Worldwide said preparations are in top gear to host its18th Annual General Assembly (AGA) on the 28th and 29th of November 2025, a gathering expected to draw some of the nation’s most distinguished leaders and accomplished graduates.

The event which is scheduled to take place at the university’s iconic main campus in Zaria promises to be a celebration of unity, reflection, and recommitment to national development.

Activities will open on Friday, November 28, with a pre-AGA Lecture chaired by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

The keynote address will be delivered by the former governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, who will speak on the timely theme: “The Role of Alumni in Promoting National Unity and Development.”

On Saturday, November 29, the main assembly will hold elections into key offices, vibrant cultural showcases will be conducted, and there will be strategic networking sessions designed to strengthen ties across generations of ABU graduates.

The event is expected to provide a platform for alumni to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and reaffirm their role in shaping Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.

Eminent personalities billed to attend the event, include Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Dr. Uba Sani; Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University; Alhaji Dr. Yayale Ahmed, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council; and His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

Other notable figures from across the country are also expected to grace the two-day event.

According to the Alumni Association, the 2025 AGA is more than just a reunion—it is a renewed call to action. The gathering aims to inspire graduates of the premier institution to contribute more actively to the university’s growth and the broader developmental aspirations of Nigeria.

With the theme highlighting unity and nation-building, the association believes the assembly will catalyse mobilising alumni resources, expertise, and influence towards strengthening both the institution and the country.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. daily at the ABU Main Campus, Zaria, and all alumni, friends, and well-wishers have been warmly invited to participate.

Mal signed the announcement. Adamu Mamman Kontagora, President of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Alumni Association Worldwide, expressed confidence that the 2025 AGA will be one of the most impactful in the association’s history.

As the countdown begins, anticipation continues to build not just for a reunion of old friends but for a gathering poised to shape the future of ABU and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development trajectory.
