Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, is working closely with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to uphold standards, ethics and quality assurance in the teaching profession.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibrahim Hassan Garba, stated this over the weekend at the second induction of 276 graduating students from the Faculty of Technology Education.

Professor Garba who was represented by the University Librarian, Dr. Dauda Adamu, noted that the induction ceremony would transform students of education into professional teachers entrusted with the sacred duty of nurturing minds and shaping Nigeria’s future.

Professor Garba commended the Faculty of Technology Education for its unwavering commitment to producing quality graduates with both technical competence and pedagogical expertise.

He reiterated that ATBU remains committed to producing teachers who are not only competent in classroom delivery but also capable of fostering creativity, innovation, and productivity among learners.

The registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Dr Ronke Soyombo, represented by Kabiru Ibrahim, emphasised the importance of registration with TRCN for technology education students to obtain professional certificates and practice teaching independently.

She urged students to maintain ethical conduct, noting that registration would help reduce the number of unqualified teachers in Nigeria.

The chairman of the occasion, Professor Mansur Usman Malumfashi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Technology Education, Professor Babawuro Shu’aibu, congratulated the graduates and advised them to be good ambassadors of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

They commended the graduates for their patience and concentration throughout their academic journey.
