Newly established Veteran Sport FC of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have unveiled an ambitious youth development programme aimed at discovering, nurturing and creating career pathways for talented young footballers in Abuja and across Nigeria.

The club said it is strengthening its football structure through strategic player recruitment, partnerships with football academies and participation in competitive youth programmes as it seeks to establish itself as a force in Nigerian football.

Speaking in an interview, Veteran Sport FC founder and Chief Executive Officer, Moses Amos Momoh, said the club’s long-term vision goes beyond competing in tournaments, with the primary objective of establishing a sustainable structure capable of producing professional footballers.

Momoh identified the club’s participation in the NLO U-19 Youth League as a key component of its development strategy, describing the competition as an important platform for young players to gain competitive experience, exposure and opportunities to showcase their abilities.

“Our goal is to build a football structure where young talents can be discovered, developed and given the right platform to progress. We want to create opportunities for players who have the talent and determination but may not have had the right exposure,” Momoh said.

He stressed that Veteran Sport FC would combine football development with discipline, education, professionalism and player welfare, noting that technical ability alone was not enough to sustain a successful football career.

“Football is not only about talent. Discipline, character, education, commitment and professionalism are very important. We want to develop complete players who can represent themselves, their families and the club positively wherever they find themselves,” he added.

Momoh also disclosed that the club was building relationships with football academies, clubs, scouts, coaches, agents and other stakeholders to strengthen its scouting network and player development programmes.

He cited the recent partnership between Veteran Sport FC and Atlantic Integral Football Academy as one of the club’s latest milestones, saying the collaboration would enhance its capacity to identify and nurture emerging talents.

According to him, the partnership is expected to provide young players with greater access to quality coaching, competitive football and potential pathways into professional football.

Momoh, who also serves as the club’s Team Lead, said Veteran Sport FC was focused on creating a sustainable development model rather than pursuing short-term success.

“We are building for the future. We want Veteran Sport FC to be recognised not just as a football club, but as a platform where young people can develop their football careers and also become responsible and disciplined individuals,” he said.

He added that the club would continue to strengthen its engagement with football stakeholders in Abuja, across Nigeria and beyond, particularly in technical development, scouting, player management and professional football.

With its participation in the NLO U-19 Youth League, growing academy partnerships and increased focus on youth development, Veteran Sport FC said it was laying the foundation for a competitive and professionally managed football outfit.

Momoh said the club’s mission remained clear: “We want to discover talent, develop talent and create the pathway for that talent to succeed.”
