Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning the civil and public service for greater efficiency through responsive and merit-based appointments.

The governor stated this during the swearing-in of Abba Alhaji Mamadi as the new Grand Khadi of the state, alongside five Special Advisers, a Permanent Member of the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and 13 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.

Buni who expressed satisfaction with the qualifications, experience, and integrity of the appointees, described them as valuable assets who would add quality to governance and service delivery in line with the vision and mission of his administration.

The governor noted that the Special Advisers were appointed to strengthen the bond between government and the people, adding that their grassroots connection, loyalty, and commitment are key to the ideals of government.

Speaking of the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries, Buni charged them to work towards strengthening due process, being proactive, and inject fresh ideas that will ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

“Government will continue to equip and reposition the public service to be more responsive to our current demands for speedy and effective implementation of policies and programmes,” he said.

He used the forum and reminded the appointees that their new positions are a trust and that they would be judged by the public on how well they serve urging them to uphold honesty, fairness, and justice without recourse to political, religious, or ethnic differences.

“Like other political leaders and public officers, you will be subjected to the people’s court. Do your best to discharge your duties conscientiously,” Buni stated.
