After losing 1-0 to Burkina Faso in their opening game, the Flying Eagles bounced back with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday.

The win saw the Flying Eagles finish top of Group B while Cote d’Ivoire was second. Burkina Faso crashed out.

Following their qualification to the last four, the Flying Eagles will now face Niger Republic.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash with Niger Republic, Suberu explained why his team lost their opening game.

“First game at any tournament is always like that,” Suberu said on Brila FM.

“Players become jittery and panicking but there was improvement in the second game.

”In the semi-finals against Niger Republic we will see a better Nigerian team.”

A win for the Flying Eagles in the semi-finals will see them book a place at next year’s U-20 AFCON which will serve as qualifiers for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
