Wamakko Appeals For Slash In Prices Of Goods

Senator Aliyu Wamakko has called on marketers and traders in the country to reduce the prices of goods as the US Dollar has crashed in the country, while the Nigerian Naira gained more value.

The senator frowned at those traders who refused to appreciate the efforts of the government by bringing down the dollar exchange to the barest level and have continued to increase the prices of commodities exorbitantly.

Wamakko spoke during Ramadan breakfast with some commissioners and the academia at his Gawon Nama Sokoto residence.

According to the senator who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, the traders cried out that the dollar had gone up against the naira, but it has now crashed to as low as N1,200 as against $1 to N1,700 before.

While noting the plight of the citizens, Wamakko appealed to the leadership of the traders’ association especially in Sokoto State to prevail on their members to lower the high costs of their goods.

“I am appealing to you to appreciate the plight of the citizens and lower the high costs of the goods for the development of the nation,” he said.
