The special assistant to Abia State governor on People Living With Disabilities (PWDs), Mr David Anyaele, has said the choice of leaders made by People Living With Disabilities (PWDs) during leadership elections is critical to their welfare.
Anyaele stated this, yesterday, while speaking to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state capital, ahead of the 2023 election of Bende local government chapter of PWDs slated for Friday.
“It behooves the members, sentiments apart, to choose leaders that will speak for and represent their collective interest adequately at any level. That is the essence of leadership,” he said.
The former executive director of Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, said the chances of such groups being listened and responded positively to in the state by the government had become more certain under Dr Alex Otti.
He added that as one of them and with him, they should be rest assured that they will not be denied their rights and privileges if the demand is properly channeled by the right leadership.
Meanwhile, a statement by Mr Peter Oleka for the electoral committee puts the venue of the election as Bende headquarters hall, while the time is 10:00am.
“Members are advised to renew their membership before the election while the contestants should pick the interest form from the social development office at the headquarters,” it said.
