The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has renewed his commitment to ending insecurity in the state and across Nigeria, declaring that “we’ll do more to secure Katsina.”

He made this assertion while on a working visit to the state on Monday, expressing appreciation for the support the Nigerian Army continues to receive from the people and government of Katsina State.

He therefore commiserated with the state over recent losses of lives due to banditry and other criminal activities, describing them as “unfortunate and saddening,” but also as a motivation to intensify the fight.

“The enemy is within, and it is important for us to fish out these enemies of the state and deal with them decisively,” he said.

The COAS emphasised that security is a collective responsibility, stressing that intelligence gathering and public cooperation are critical to defeating insecurity.

“We’ll do more to secure Katsina, but we cannot succeed without everyone’s support. Security is everybody’s business, and with your partnership, we can make Nigeria safer,” he added.
He disclosed that he had already held private discussions with the acting governor of Katsina on further strengthening security strategies in the state.
