Chairman, Eziukwu Road Market, Aba, Monitoring Committee on Counterfeit and Adulterated Products, Christopher Ogbodo, has said the committee would end product counterfeiting in the market.

Ogbodo spoke with LEADERSHIP Sunday in the market shortly after the eight-member committee swung into action, vowing that the committee would not leave any stone unturned until the fake products are taken out.

He solicited the support and cooperation of the traders and the law enforcement agents to ensure sanity in the market to allow those engaged in genuine businesses to operate freely.

Inaugurating the committee earlier in the week, the chairman of the market, Moses Oba charged the members to ensure total eradication of products faking and redating in the market.

Oba said the committee was set up in compliance with directives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the state government.

He added that the leadership of the market was determined to flush out perpetrators of the acts which had portrayed the market in bad light, warning them to desist from the acts or face the consequences.

It would be recalled that NAFDAC had last November and January this year raided the market and sealed up about 150 shops over alleged counterfeiting and redating of products valued at over N5 billion.
