We’ll Present Candidates For 2027 Elections – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it will field candidates in the 2027 general elections, dismissing claims suggesting otherwise as baseless and misleading.

The party said that despite what it described as “recent distractions,” it remains focused on its objective of rescuing Nigeria from the misgovernance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and preventing what it termed a drift toward a one-party state.

In a statement on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described reports that it would not present candidates in 2027 as “unfounded and mischievous scaremongering” with no basis in law or reality.

The party insisted that it is fully prepared to participate in the elections, adding that it is working towards presenting credible and competent candidates across all levels.

“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to state, clearly and unequivocally, that we remain focused on our mission to rescue Nigeria from the failure of the APC-led government and to prevent the dangerous slide toward a one-party state,” the statement read.

It added, “We have taken note of recent suggestions that the ADC will not produce candidates in the 2027 elections. We find such claims to be entirely unfounded, mischievous, and designed to create confusion where none exists.”

Reaffirming its position, the party stated that there is no legal impediment to its participation in the 2027 elections, stressing that it remains compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.

“Let us be clear. The ADC will present candidates in the 2027 general elections—credible, competent, and nationally acceptable candidates capable of leading this country out of its current crisis,” the statement added.

The party further maintained that it remains a major opposition platform, with a clear focus on mobilising Nigerians and building the structures required to win elections.

“We are not distracted by noise. We are focused on the real work—organising across the country, mobilising Nigerians who are tired of insecurity, rising costs of living, and limited opportunities, and building the structures required not just to contest, but to win,” it stated.

The ADC urged its members, supporters, and the general public to disregard what it described as baseless assertions, noting that the task ahead requires unity and commitment rather than speculation.
