The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured that the Nigerian Army will proactively tackle security threats and restore peace across the country.

Lt.-Gen. Shaibu also pledged to address the challenge of accommodation in Army barracks across the country.

The Army chief gave the assurance during his visit to the Enugu State Governor, Barrister Peter Mbah, in Enugu.

In a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, the Army boss, added that with sustained collaboration among the Armed Forces, other security agencies and the public, insecurity would soon become a thing of the past in the country.

In his remarks, Governor Mbah commended Lt.-Gen. Shaibu and the Nigerian Army for their unwavering commitment to peace and security across the country.

Mbah stated that he had closely followed the activities of the Shaibu since his assumption of office and observed that he has approached his duties with the seriousness and dedication required of such a strategic position.

Governor Mbah further congratulated the army boss on his appointment, which he noted not to come as a surprise, “considering your antecedents in previous commands in the North East and other formations.”
