West Ham United brought an end to Michael Carrick’s perfect start as interim manager for Manchester United, holding the Red Devils to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium on Tuesday night.

The result sees United drop points for the first time under Carrick, while West Ham will be pleased with a hard-fought point against a resurgent Manchester United side.

The match remained goalless at halftime, with both teams probing but failing to find a breakthrough. The deadlock was finally broken in the 50th minute when West Ham’s Tomáš Souček capitalized on an assist from Jarrod Bowen, sending the home crowd into raptures.

Manchester United pushed for an equalizer, and their efforts were rewarded in the 90+6th minute. A dramatic late goal from Bruno Fernandes salvaged a point for the visitors, denying West Ham a famous victory.

The game also saw a yellow card for Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot in the 57th minute and a VAR intervention in the 63rd minute involving Casemiro, though no further disciplinary action was taken. Benjamin Šeško and Bryan Mbeumo were involved in the late stages of the game, though their contributions were not enough to alter the final score.
