Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reassured the people that the fight against terrorism in some parts of the state has been intensified.
The governor gave the assurance during a visit to the Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammad Bara’u Mu’azu II and other stakeholders in the emirate.
He acknowledged that insecurity had slowed development in some parts of the state, but added that strategies were being put in place to effectively address the menace.
The governor, who explained that the state government’s decision to merge some secondary schools within the emirate was to ensure students’ safety, enjoined the people to show understanding and cooperate with the government in that regard.
He promised that the reconstruction of the Kontagora General Hospital and other ongoing projects in the emirate would be completed.
The governor appreciated the emir and the stakeholders for organising the breaking of the fast with him and urged the people to continue to pray for peace and for all leaders to provide good governance.
The emir thanked the governor for attending the event, saying it would strengthen the existing love between him and the Emirate.
