We’ve Made Strides In Infrastructure Devt, ICT, Says LASU VC

The vice chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello said the varsity has made giant strides in infrastructure development and ICT innovation in the the last three and a half years.

The VC who stated this during a press conference to herald the ivory tower’s 28th Convocation ceremony stated that LASU has added a new Faculty of Computers to its already existing 16 faculties.

She added that the new faculty comprises the Department of Computer Science, Department of Cyber Security, Data Science, ICT and Department of Software Engineering.

This, she noted, is ‘”in line with our commitment to technological advancement. LASU has launched its own online meeting application named TALK SPACE available on the LASU website and allows for flexible subscription by the general public.

“I am elated to announce that another faculty has been added to the new faculties established under our administration.”

Prof Olatunji-Bello, reeling our the activities for the 28th Convocation stated that the Education Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and the chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) are among eminent personalities set to grace the ceremonies.

The Convocation activities will hold from April 3 to 10 and on  Tuesday, April 8, 2025, The Education Minister would deliver the convocation lecture entitled: “Patriots, Citizenship and National Ownership, The Imperative of Collective Responsibility for Nigeria’s Future,” with Ganduje as chairman of the occasion.

She added that the varsity would confer honourary doctorate degrees on Buba Marwa and former Lagos Deputy Governor, Mr. Femi Pedro for their contributions to the development of LASU and the nation.

“Out of the 8,711 graduating students for first degree, 192 bagged first class, 3,076 are in Second Class Upper Division; 4,397 in Second Class Lower while 990 bagged Third Class and 39 have  Pass.

“The best graduating student is Nwosu Isioma Sybil of the Biochemistry Department with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.93.”
