What A Win!

I could hear them talking in loud voices and laughing. I looked in to greet them, kneeling by my mother who also happened to be there with one of her childhood friends. This was serious. “Maimuna, Super Eagles is playing today.” My father hollered.

Our maid had just served them fruits, nuts and alkali with water and fruit drink. I nodded murmuring with disinterest that I hoped we won. I left them and went to my room. I heard them shout all the way from the living from and out of curiosity dropped my handbag to put on the tv.

Nigeria had just scored a goal! Now this was getting interesting. In no time, me that was not interested in football had rolled up my sleeves and sat down to watch. We had prospects, and I had this feeling that we would win.
