The commander of Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian of the Nigerian Army, Major General S.O. Olabanji has reiterated the importance of the West Africa Social Activities (WASA) as a link between the military and civil society.
He started this at the weekend during the joint headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery (NACA), Nigerian Army Training Center (NATRAC) and 311 Artillery Regiment Kontagora Barracks WASA 2022.
The commander who was the special guest of honour said he was delighted by the effort of the leadership of HQ NACA And NATRAC in making the day a reality for their soldiers despite the challenging operating environment.
He said they were faced by the challenges occasioned mainly by criminal activities of bandits and the conduct of the first round of the 2023 general elections.
Olabanji said overtime, WASA had helped to bring the families of the men and officers together and also enhance the relationship with the host communities.
He therefore lauded the army formations in Kontagora for organising the 2022 event despite the challenges.
WASA is an annual event held by All Nigerian Army formations and units to celebrate the end of the year ‘s activities and to showcase and celebrate Nigeria’s diverse culture and unity as well as encourage esprit de corps among the personnel.
