The music producer and CEO of Mavin Records, Michael Collins Ajereh, professionally known as Don Jazzy, has disclosed that his busy presence on social media is intentional and a way to hunt for new music talent, which has often been misunderstood.
Don Jazzy, who is the owner of one of Nigeria’s most popular and successful record labels, said his following of young, stylish women online has often been misunderstood.
Don Jazzy notes, “People always say I follow plenty Gen Z baddies on IG, but that’s actually how I discovered Ayra Starr,” he remarked.
He also adds that he often asks young contacts to share the pages of talented friends.
The owner of one of the most popular and successful record label companies mentioned that sometimes he reaches out directly to young talents after finding them and messages their family members when necessary to make contact.
He also said that social media has become one of his most effective scouting tools in recent years, recounting how many of his signees were found through online interactions, especially among younger users whose content often signals untried talent before industry recognition.
The music producer says his most remarkable discovery is Ayra Starr, whom he found on Instagram.
