A lecturer at the University of Jos, Professor Iornumbe Joseph Usar, has said his decision to contest the Gwer/Gwer-West Federal Constituency seat in Benue State is driven by what he described as calls from constituents and the need for improved representation.

Usar, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke with journalists after obtaining his nomination and expression of interest forms.

The professor of Health Economics and Health Policy said his ambition is rooted in concerns over representation in the constituency, adding that he believes there is room for improvement in addressing local needs.

He also urged voters in the constituency to participate actively in the electoral process and make informed choices during the forthcoming elections.

On governance, Usar pointed to issues such as infrastructure, employment, and development as areas he intends to focus on if elected, noting that effective representation should translate into tangible benefits for constituents.
