National president of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN), Aare Abdul-Rafiu Sanni, has appealed to Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic and religious inclinations to support President Bola Tinubu-led administration to deliver Nigeria from the current economic crisis.

Sanni, who was among Muslim leaders from the South West who met with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja recently, expressed confidence in the ability of the former Lagos State governor to save Nigeria from imminent collapse and build a prosperous future for all.

He said the discussion Muslim leaders had with the president during their visit was on the economic challenges facing the country, stressing that what Nigerians are going through at the moment is not unexpected considering the amount of decadence and rot in the system over the years.

“As far as Ansarudeen society is concerned, I hope you are aware that I am part of the delegations that met with the president last week.

We the Muslim leaders from the South West met with him and that was the major discussion we had with him.

“On the issue of the dollar going to over N1,000 isn’t unexpected when we consider the amount of decadence and rots over the years in the country. I won’t say President Tinubu is unfortunate to come at this time but God knows best. I believe he is the man that will save us from imminent collapse of this country.

“Today, if you look at it, the president at the Economic Summit Group last week was able to lay out how his administration intends to stabilize the forex and today, the naira has started gaining strength. What we are saying is that we should give the government time. I am seriously affected because of the type of business I do but I know especially with the type of mismanagement and rots over the years, I am not surprised that we find ourselves in this situation.

“However, what we should be doing now is how to ameliorate and support the government so that at the end, we will all come back happy and be living in peace and harmony.

“I believe the president is seriously working on how to make the country successful and economically viable and as a Muslim society, we pray for him every time because his success is that of the country but Nigerians must give him the necessary support and understanding and I believe within a very short period, we shall be all have cause to experience good governance,” he said.

On the alleged sidelining of Muslims from South West in Tinubu administration, Sanni said, “Yes, on the sidelines of the meeting we had with him last week, we also discussed the president’s decision of side lining Muslims in the South West from federal government appointments and he received us very well; he listened to us and I think we had a very good response. I won’t disclose our discussion with him but I can tell you we had a very good commitment from him.
