For Nelson Iheagwam, Pastor and the leader of Nelson Iheagwam Ministries an interdenominational gathering, he has seriously been serving the Lord since his secondary school and days at Covenant University.
Iheagwam who also doubles a gospel artiste, in a recent interview speaks on the inspiration behind the birth of Nelson Iheagwam Ministry which has so far helped saved souls locally and internationally.
He said, “Loving God, chasing His leadings, fellowshipping with fellow Christians, praying for people, and teaching people. I just wanted to do all that God will have me do. I’ve been hosting meetings since school, and then after school, God led me to bring it all under one umbrella, and this birthed Nelson Iheagwam Ministries. I got ordained in 2021.”
On his love for music, Iheagwam recalled how his love for sounds started, “I could always sing, and carry a tune, however, songs started dropping into my heart during my time of personal devotions and prayers, and also during meetings. New songs were birthed, and then we would usually just record them with our phones and replay them over streams till we could record.”
Wondering how he has been marrying the duties of a pastor and a singer, the clergy mean reiterated that being a Pastor was never his intentions but predestined for him by the almighty.
“It is what God has called me to be. I had other things I could do with my life, but for me, when God speaks, other things give way. As a singer, God just gives the songs, and then we fine-tune them and record them. I don’t balance both, I believe both are intertwined, as I do the work of ministry, God gives me songs.”
Iheagwam also adviced young Christians who may be sceptical about supernatural encounters, “for believers who may be sceptical, I understand why you may be sceptical, however, the Bible says in 1 Cor 14:1 “…earnestly covet the things of the Spirit”. Be zealous for the things of the Spirit. If you have doubts about these things, here’s my advice for you, be patient in staying with God’s word, love God’s word, know what God can do and stay within the boundaries of God’s word. Don’t throw away the things of the Spirit. The safest place you can be as a believer is within the confines of God’s word,” he noted.
