Manchester City capped a historic season by beating Brighton in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley, securing their first domestic double.

Just three weeks after clinching their first Women’s Super League title in a decade, City reaffirmed their status as England’s dominant force. Star forward Khadija Shaw – who shocked many on Monday by announcing a new four-year deal with the club – once again stole the show.

The Jamaican opened the scoring with a header in the 38th minute, then turned provider to set up Aoba Fujino for City’s third goal. Captain Alex Greenwood had already put City in control before half‑time with a low 20‑yard free‑kick, and late substitute Vivianne Miedema added a fourth to round off a convincing victory.

Brighton, who had impressed in the final months of the WSL season, started brightly. For long stretches of the first half they looked the better side, with Maisie Symonds pulling the strings, Fran Kirby causing problems, and Kiko Seike a constant threat down the right. But the Seagulls failed to take their chances – a costly miss against a ruthless City side.

That ruthlessness struck in an eight‑minute spell just before half‑time, turning a competitive game into a commanding lead that Brighton never looked like overturning.
